The Ghost.
Stop waiting for the future that never existed – arrival happens only in the now, again and again.
I compare what I just made against a finished version that exists nowhere – cleaner, wiser, more complete than the real thing, and than the real me. Measured against that, today's work always loses. The letter has a name for that rival: a ghost.
It picks up the thread of "Perfectly Imperfect" and pulls it further: the now is perfect imperfect, and what you make right now is a mirror of everything you could give – true as far as your truth reaches today. The only arrival there is happens here, in accepting yourself completely – and then doing it again for every new now.
If your work keeps losing to an imaginary finished version of itself, read this one to the last question.
Dear traveler,
You are already receiving. The now is perfect imperfect, and your idea of perfection is the future that never existed. So if, in the now, you only ever think about how things would have to be for them to be good, you spend your whole life chasing a ghost that never exists. Your creation, in this moment, is exactly what it is. Exactly right as it is. A mirror of you, of everything you have given. Of everything you were able to do. You have put truth into it, as it is true for you up to this point. Love, as you could feel it up to this point. You have followed your inner voice, the way you heard it. And yes, you keep developing with every step. Do you remember: true creating is always also a personal healing process. And so your creating keeps developing too. This journey has no beginning and no end. No goal. No arrival. The only arrival is arriving in the NOW and accepting yourself as you are right now. Completely. And you repeat this acceptance for every new now, again and again. And with this acceptance, the now is already enough. Because you, right now, are enough. Because you are right. And with that, your creating right now is enough too. Because it comes from you, from your essence. And so every moment is perfect in its imperfection, and we do not need to wait for the future that never existed. Do you understand?
Thank you for being here.
If something in these letters stayed with you, take it along – think about it, write your own answer, or just let it sit.
And if not today, that's okay too. There's no rush.
Until next time,
– Jan
