Inner Resistance.
On the days when nothing wants to come – and the love hidden inside the resistance itself.
There are weeks when clarity behaves like a failing light bulb – a flicker of it, then fog again. I know what I do with those weeks: I treat them as malfunction. Something to troubleshoot, push through, fix by Friday.
The letter answers with a calendar instead of a repair manual: these phases belong to the cycle of creating, the way ebb belongs to flood. It picks up exactly where "Rhythm" left off – don't control it, give yourself to it – and then goes one step further than enduring: acceptance, all the way down.
If you are in the fog right now, this letter isn't advice for getting out of it. It's permission to be in it.
Dear traveler,
Right now much feels foggy and hidden. Clarity shows itself only in fleeting moments – like a flickering light bulb. Even if trust is hard in this moment: you already know this. You know deep inside that this belongs to the cycle of creating. That phases like these are part of the cycle. Darkness belongs to light. Night to day. Ebb to flood. Empty moon to full moon. No state is forever, everything is in constant change. That is as true for moments of clarity as for moments of suffering. What did you learn about "rhythm"? Do you remember? Yes, exactly – don't try to control it, give yourself to it and accept when softer notes want to sound. When the song does not want to reveal itself yet. When it is "not yet time". Or when it is time to accept the despair of being without inspiration. Not just to endure it – this inner resistance, this viscous, melancholy feeling, this pain – but to accept it. To give it a right to exist. Completely. And to simply do nothing and let that be enough for the moment. That too is right. That too is enough. In that too there is love. Perfection. And so even in this despair, in this pain, there is clarity. Truth. Do you finally understand?
Thank you for being here.
If something in these letters stayed with you, take it along – think about it, write your own answer, or just let it sit.
And if not today, that's okay too. There's no rush.
Until next time,
– Jan
