Panic.
One breath, one step – that's the whole instruction.
There are nights when my mind holds a crisis meeting at 3am. Every question shows up at once – what will I live on, where do I even start, is any of this a good idea – and none of them will wait their turn.
This letter was the answer to one of those nights. It doesn't solve the questions; it says: breathe, trust, and take the next small step – that is enough. When Fear Returns is the practical companion for exactly these moments, for the days the fear comes back anyway.
If your head is loud right now, start with the breaths the letter asks for. Then read on.
Dear traveler,
My anxious little hare – you are feeling overwhelmed.
What can I live on? Where do I begin? Is this a good idea? Is it enough? What comes next?
So many questions.
So much fear.
So much control.
Take a deep breath. Twice. Three times.
Good.
Very good.
You already know what comes next. And yet we love to tell you again. As many times as necessary. Again and again, whenever it must be said: Trust. Let go. Surrender to the process.
Create from your feeling. With love. From deep truth. And everything else will fall into place, just as it wants to. Life unfolds step by step – do you remember?
Step by step, my dear.
You have time.
You are not missing anything.
It is not too late for anything.
You are exactly where you are meant to be – right now, right here.
And we are always with you.
We love you – oh, how we look forward to the moment when you understand just how much we love you. From what depth this unconditional, sacred love comes.
You will experience it. And on the way there, we are by your side.
Step by step.
Thank you for being here.
If something in these letters stayed with you, take it along – think about it, write your own answer, or just let it sit.
And if not today, that's okay too. There's no rush.
Until next time,
– Jan
