The Old Game.
When the old game starts up again, you can feel the pull – and you can choose the light side instead.
It takes one person, one sentence, sometimes one email – and I'm back in a game I quit years ago: proving, defending, keeping score. The trigger is new; the game is old. And I never win it. I only lose myself into it.
The letter is blunt about the mechanics: the game runs on wanting, control, and fear, and holding on to it buys you a road of suffering – that world is the one you cut the cord to. Then it marks the fork: the strength you've built by being radically yourself can serve the ego, or it can serve the light. Choosing the light side means letting go of the wanting, listening to the pure voice, going where it feels light – and radically dropping what feels heavy. "Illusion" knows the old game from the inside; "Claim Your Way" is where the radically-yourself half was given.
If someone has your old button under their thumb this week, this letter is the way out – the one that doesn't go through them.
Dear traveler,
Let go of everything. Really everything. You are playing a game you stopped playing years ago. A game you cannot win. A game that has already brought so much suffering into your life. It runs on wanting, on control, and on fear. If you hold on to it, a road of suffering lies inevitably ahead of you – and then it will hold on to you just as tightly. That is your old world. That is not what you cut the cord for. You have learned to be radically yourself. Your ego is now trying to instrumentalize exactly that for its own ends. This is the point where you can use your power for the dark side or for the light side of the Force – the Star Wars analogy is greatly simplified, but we want to make clear to you what this is about.
If you choose the light side, it means: Let go of wanting, control, and fear. Hear your inner voice. Listen to it. To the pure voice, the voice of love. And then feel what feels light, and go there. Choose the lightness. And what feels heavy you drop, radically, and choose anew. Trust that this leads you to the right path, and that you are taken care of on this path. That is surrender. Primal trust. These are the tools we give you. We are here for you. We help you. Let yourself be helped.
Thank you for being here.
If something in these letters stayed with you, take it along – think about it, write your own answer, or just let it sit.
And if not today, that's okay too. There's no rush.
Until next time,
– Jan
