Not Alone.
A letter about the loneliness of carrying everything – and the fear that builds it, brick by brick, from the inside.
There is a week-shape I know well: colleagues everywhere, help nominally available, and still the quiet bookkeeping that concludes everything ends up with me. I asked about that feeling directly – must I really do everything alone?
The answer refuses the premise twice. First: you are not alone – with a full stop after every word. Second: the aloneness is manufactured inside, by fear – of failing, of not being enough – and by the wanting-to-please that fear runs on. The way out is not delegation advice; it is the sentence this site keeps circling back to: you are enough, exactly as you are.
From there the letter simply reopens the familiar door: intuition, inner voice, ease. Nothing new to earn. Only something to stop believing.
Dear traveler,
You are not alone. Let us repeat that: You. Are. Not. Alone.
The feeling of having to do everything alone is inside you; it comes from you. And: it is simply fear. Fear of failing. Fear of not being good enough. And with it, a wanting to please. A feeling that everything has to be even better for you to be liked. You actually think that if everything were even "better", you would please more. Be recognized. Belong.
Let us make one thing clear: You are good enough, exactly as you are. You are right. You are exactly where you should be. Right now. And if you, exactly as you are now, are right, then there is nothing you must achieve to be "more right" or "better". You are already right. And where you are is the right place, just as you are.
When you recognize this and accept yourself fully, just as you are right now – when you understand yourself as "right" – then the fear of being "wrong", the fear of failing, can dissolve. And you can let yourself be led again by your intuition, your inner voice, your feeling. Can follow ease again, and trust it to guide you on your way.
Thank you for being here.
If something in these letters stayed with you, take it along – think about it, write your own answer, or just let it sit.
And if not today, that's okay too. There's no rush.
Until next time,
– Jan
