Simply Living.
Her work is to live: loving the world, the books she sometimes doesn't read, the mornings her daughter smiles. No race required.
“So, what do you do?” – the question that turns a person into a résumé. Bella writes from the other side of it: no job right now, no hobby to present, no project to point at. And she refuses the premise – she is not a smaller life waiting to be justified. Her work, she says, is to live.
This site keeps one sentence at its center for exactly this: you are enough. Not once the portfolio fills up – now, because you exist. There is no race, and nobody is behind. Coming Alive says it as an instruction from Love: set down what was never yours – the measuring, the running – come home, and let life bloom from within. Bella's version has a morning in it: teaching her daughter to hold up her head and smile at the day.
Whether that makes her worse or better, she asks at the end. The question answers itself on the way.
Why are we judged through the prism of work, hobbies, interests, income?
If I don't have a hobby, am I not a person? Not interesting? Not right? Why do we measure people by their achievements and their constant “running”?
I'm simply a person. I simply live. I have no hobby and no favorite pursuit. My work is to live. I love this world, I love traveling, discovering other traditions, views, tastes. I love books – and sometimes I don't read for months. I can watch a dumb series – though, on the other hand, why dumb? How is it different from a smart one? Is there such a thing as a smart series?
I can watch a movie; I love it when I cry or laugh, I don't love movies you watch without feeling anything.
I love people. Especially the ones close to me, my family.
I love my husband and my daughter. When they're near. When my daughter coos and smiles at me every morning. Teaching her to hold up her head and to smile at her mom and at the day.
Yes, I don't work. Yes, I don't run. And does that make me worse – or better? 🤭
Thank you for reading.
If her words reached somewhere mine don't – good. That's what this blog is for. Take what fits and leave the rest.
