The Ocean of Possibilities.
Say what feels good, say what doesn't, and name what you want instead – that is how you steer through an ocean of possibilities.
This letter came while an offer sat unanswered in my inbox – a project I mostly wanted, on terms I didn't. For days I weighed the whole package as one thing: yes to all of it or no to all of it. Somewhere along the way I had forgotten that there is a third answer – this part yes, this part no, and here is what I'd want instead.
What the letter says is plain: whatever finds you is an opportunity, and you steer by feeling – you name what feels good, you name what doesn't, and you formulate what you want instead until the whole feels right. It's the same choosing that "Until It Feels Right" practices behind closed eyes, turned outward here toward what life actually hands you. And it adds a line to "Surfing the Ocean of Truth": the waves that reach you aren't only there to ride or let pass – you're allowed to answer them.
If something is lying in your lap right now – an offer, a request, a plan that's almost right – read this before you answer. You don't have to take it whole, and you don't have to walk away.
Dear traveler,
Whatever finds its way to you is always an opportunity. What you do with it is entirely up to you. And what it comes down to is trusting your feeling. You can say: "This feels good, this doesn't" and then formulate what you want instead, so that it feels good as a whole. THAT is how you navigate this infinite ocean of possibilities.
Thank you for being here.
If something in these letters stayed with you, take it along – think about it, write your own answer, or just let it sit.
And if not today, that's okay too. There's no rush.
Until next time,
– Jan
