Stop trying to heal.
On the end of trying to fix yourself – and the healing that begins the moment you accept every side of who you are.
For years I treated myself like a renovation project. There was always something to fix first – a fear to dissolve, a pattern to break, a wound to close – and behind it the promise that once I was healed, my real life could begin.
This letter pulls the ground out from under that project. It says healing is nothing you can force; it happens on its own the moment you stop trying – the moment you accept every side of yourself, not just tolerating it but welcoming it. It is the same movement the meditation "Being Whole" practices: giving everything in you not just a right to be tolerated, but the full right to exist.
If part of you is still waiting to be repaired before life can start, this letter is for you.
Dear traveler,
We watch you as you develop, as you grow, as you find your way to us and above all: as you find your way to yourself. As you begin to accept all your sides. As you uncover your blind spots and take them in.
You have stopped trying to "heal yourself" – and started, instead, to accept yourself fully and completely. Just as you are. Now. Not merely to tolerate all your aspects, but to welcome them, for good. And with that you let healing happen, instead of making it happen.
You are free. Free of the feeling that you would be better off different. That things are only right once you have been healed. What was that quote from that film again? "Being whole does not mean being unscathed." Exactly. Being whole means being exactly as you are. As you have always been. And making peace with that. Accepting yourself completely, in all your facets.
And so being able to live out every one of your sides. To give them room to unfold, and to draw from them. To create from them. To manifest your innermost truth, your essence. To let it land on earth. Arriving.
This is how you come into your own. This is how you are you! This is what you are here for. Discover yourself, your truth, your inner voice, by accepting yourself completely – and then carry their works intuitively into the world. More than that you do not need to do. That is true creation. Out of deep love.
We love you.
Thank you for being here.
If something in these letters stayed with you, take it along – think about it, write your own answer, or just let it sit.
And if not today, that's okay too. There's no rush.
Until next time,
– Jan
