The idea that arrives out of nowhere in the shower. The hunch to call someone, to take a different route, to write the sentence down before it's gone. For years I treated these as background noise – nice when convenient, easy to override when my calendar said otherwise. Listening to them felt optional. Something to get to once the real work was done.

This letter says it plainly: you have been spoken to all along – through ideas, hunches, your intuition – and hearing that voice is not a nice extra but the whole task, because hearing it means hearing yourself. In "The Art of Letting Go" the same thing appears as a practice: settling the noisy mind, developing a finer ear for the inner voice, step by step. Here it is said as an encouragement: keep listening.

And if you have ever expected more from your inner life than a hunch in the shower – the letter takes that longing seriously. It just begins one step earlier than you might expect.

Dear traveler,

We have been speaking to you for a long time – just in far subtler ways. Through ideas, through hunches, through your intuition. You didn't always listen. But now you are listening. That makes us glad. Keep listening to us. To hear us is to hear yourself. To discover yourself. We will say it as often as it takes: you don't need to do anything else but hear your inner voice and follow it with devotion.

I sense you expected more. And believe me, there is so much more. More than you could ever imagine. But we begin step by step. Only when you can hear us clearly can we unfold fully in you. Or rather: only when you finally hear YOURSELF, and truly listen to yourself, can you be fully and completely you. So listen in, feel yourself – and act on it. That is all we want for you right now. Out of deep love. We are here.

Thank you for being here.

If something in these letters stayed with you, take it along – think about it, write your own answer, or just let it sit.

And if not today, that's okay too. There's no rush.

Until next time,
– Jan
