Seven in the Morning.
Vacation used to be a cocktail at ten and a hunt for love; now it is a swim ring at seven – and she is absolutely happy.

Bella's earlier vacations had a routine: a cocktail at ten in the morning, a cigarette, and eyes scanning the beach for someone to catch – dreaming, underneath it, of meeting love. She told the whole road from there to here in Tomorrow I'm 35. This is the postcard version: alcohol-free beer, up at seven, a swim ring and sun hats hauled to the beach, and absolutely happy.
What I like is the honesty in the middle. The old wish still knocks – a cocktail, a bit of music – and she doesn't pretend it doesn't. It just isn't interesting anymore. Examples of Letting Go or Choosing says that letting go needs trust and choosing needs courage, and that either way you feel more alive – not because everything suddenly becomes easier, but because you are acting in tune with your inner truth. Her post is what that looks like from the beach: the hunt was set down, and what came in its place is quieter and fuller than the hunt ever promised.
Five minutes of swimming alone, then she is racing back to her daughter. That is the whole change, and she calls it happiness.
Vacation
On vacations I used to lie there with a cocktail at 10 in the morning, a cigarette between my teeth, eyes scanning for a "victim". Dreaming of meeting love.
Now I drink alcohol-free beer, I don't smoke, I get up at 7, I haul a swim ring, a paddling pool, sun hats, creams and so on down to the beach, I swim with my daughter and my husband, and I'm absolutely happy.
Yes, sometimes I feel like a bit of untz-untz, the thought of a tasty cocktail crosses my mind, but in reality it just isn't interesting anymore 😑
More like just lying down or swimming on my own – that, yes, but 5 minutes later I see my daughter and I'm already racing over to her and swimming with her🥰
That's how everything changes, and how much happiness these changes bring🤭
Thank you for reading.
If her words reached somewhere mine don't – good. That's what this blog is for. Take what fits and leave the rest.
