Not a Punishment.

Everything we radiate returns – the question is never punishment, only what we sow.

Not a Punishment

“Do bad and it comes back” – that's the karma most of us grew up with, a cosmic scorekeeper with a long memory. Bella takes three short paragraphs to put that version down.

Her reframing walks the same path as Karma on this site: in its original meaning karma is intentional action – every deed, word, and thought born of intention plants a seed, and seeds bear fruit when their time comes. Not retribution; the world's natural response. And she adds a strand I hadn't placed next to it before: the Jewish principle of measure for measure, where what returns comes with the chance to understand, to correct, to do differently. Return as invitation, not verdict.

It ends with the sowing hand, where the article ends too. What comes back is not the question. What we sow is.

🌸 Karma is not about punishment

Popularly, karma is known as: “do bad – and it comes back.” But karma really isn't about revenge; it's about the law of cause and effect.

In Buddhism, karma is every action, word, or thought born of intention. Everything we do creates seeds, and when the time comes, they bear fruit. Not retribution – the world's natural response.

In Judaism a similar meaning lives in the principle of “measure for measure”: our deeds return to us, but through the chance to realize, to correct, to do differently.

Karma is not about “punishment.”
It's about the fact that everything we radiate returns. And what exactly we sow depends only on us.

Thank you for reading.

If her words reached somewhere mine don't – good. That's what this blog is for. Take what fits and leave the rest.
