The Vessel.
Put down the need to know – all that is asked of you is an open vessel and the trust that it will be filled.
I over-prepare. Before a meeting, a workshop, a new room full of people, I want to arrive already knowing – the agenda, the answers, the way it will go. This letter answered a question asked from inside that habit.
Its answer starts by cancelling the requirement entirely: you don't have to know anything, you don't have to do anything. What is asked for instead is a posture – an open vessel, and the trust that what belongs in it will arrive. "Surfing the Ocean of Truth" describes the same movement at full scale: recognizing the energy that comes toward you and flowing with it instead of producing everything yourself.
The letter ends on a sentence I keep rereading: this readiness can be carried into an organization. The vessel is not only personal.
Dear traveler,
Yes – you don't have to know everything. More than that: you don't have to do anything at all. You don't have to know anything. You don't have to do anything.
All it takes is an open inner posture. A soft, expectant permeability. A vessel that is open to being filled. And the trust that the right people, souls, energies, situations, and events come to you in the right measure, at the right time, and in the right form – to enrich your vessel with their contribution, and in return to learn from you.
Your task is to create the conditions for this exchange, for these encounters. To be receptive. To be reachable. With surrender and humility. Such readiness can also be carried into an organization.
