Creating moves in cycles, not straight lines – on making when it's time to make, and resting when it's time to rest.
I had a plan: work on the project every morning, ship by Friday. By Wednesday I was forcing sentences that didn't want to come – and calling it discipline.
This letter says it plainly: creating moves in cycles, and you are not at the wheel. You can make decisions – what you cannot do is control. In Surrender & Decision we look at how choice and surrender live together; this letter adds the part I keep forgetting: timing. Winter is not a failed spring.

Dear traveler,
It is about cycles. Waves. We create in cycles.
Creating is not a linear process you can carry out strictly by rule and discipline. You are not at the wheel! Let go of that idea. You can make decisions, yes – but you do not control. You humbly offer yourself, so that creation can happen through you. And it happens when it is time. And that is an eternal cycle.
Yes, much like a plant. You can try to make a plant grow in winter, but it is not the time for it – you will inevitably have to wait until spring. But then it happens as if by itself.
Nature is full of cycles and rhythms. Sun, moon – it is the rhythm of all being. The “Ohm”. Learn to feel this rhythm and align yourself with it, instead of working against it, by your own will.
Flow with the cycle. When it is time to create, create. When it is time to rest, rest! You are not missing anything. On the contrary: resting, turning inward, “letting it go” – that is as much a part of creating as the making itself. It is every bit as important!
